3 Home Remedies for Skin Pigmentation That You Must Try

There are numerous skin lightening cosmetic procedures available to help people regain young-looking radiant skin, but they are mostly expensive and not everybody can afford them. For all those who cannot afford a multi-session pigmentation treatment, here are 3 time-tested home remedies for Pigmentation Treatment.

Potato for pigmentation

Potatoes are not just a rich source of starch but also work wonders when it comes to lightening hyper-pigmented skin. Raw potato contains an enzyme namely catecholase, which is believed to be really helpful in treating a host of skin pigmentation problems like freckles, blemishes, dark circles under eyes and melasma.

How to use potato:

Thoroughly wash and peel a potato to cut it into thick slices. Take a slice and rub it onto the pigmented skin for five to 10 minutes, giving the potato juice ample time to absorb into the skin. Then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Repeat this twice a day for at least a month to see significant improvement in the appearance of skin pigmentation.

Note: If you have more time at hand, grate the potatoes after peeling them and then squeeze to get the juice. Apply this juice on dark spots and leave it on for 25 to 30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

Bleaching properties of lemon

Try bleaching properties of lemon on your unsightly age spots and you will not be disappointed by the outcome. Lemon is a rich source of citric acid, a natural bleaching agent. It will effectively fade freckles and blemishes on your nose, cheeks and forehead.

How to use Lemon:

Extract fresh lemon juice and using a clean cotton ball gently rub it on the areas of face where you have freckles and age spots. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash off with normal water. Apply lemon juice on your freckles and blemishes twice a day and see the magic.

Note: If you have dry or sensitive skin, avoid applying lemon juice directly to the skin. You can mix it with honey or cucumber juice to prepare a facial mask and apply it on your face once a week.

The power of papaya

If you have a papaya tree in your backyard believe me you are lucky. You can use raw papaya not only to tenderize meat but also to lighten your melasma marks. Papaya contains papain, an enzyme that is believed to help skin exfoliation and regeneration of new cells. So every time you apply papaya juice to your skin, it exfoliates the damaged top layer and regenerate new skin, free of age spots and melasma.

How to use papaya:

Cut a ripe papaya into two halves and grate its one half to extract the juice out of it. Apply this juice on the pigmented areas using a cotton ball and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse off with normal water and pat dry. Be patient to see the difference. Papaya generally takes 4 to 6 weeks before you are able to see the amazing results.
